I bought a house a year ago that has a "tree house" in the back yard. I say tree house, but really it is more like a large shed (8x8) on stilts about 8 feet high complete with functioning windows, a door and a small "front porch". I am going to start raising ducks next year and would like to use the tree house as a duck house but have some concerns about it. The first (and most important) being would the ducks go up a ramp and sleep in a house elevated that high off the ground? And my second question is how hard would it be to clean out a coop that high up?

Ideally I would like to lower it to the ground, but I have yet to think of any way to do that without destroying the house in the process. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help.

That seems pretty high up for a duck to climb, and I imagine getting up there to clean it would be difficult. I would suggest taking it off of the stilts and bringing it down to the ground, which could be quite a job. I know there are jacks that you can rent that will go that high, but I'd be worried about it falling. The only other thing I can think of is hiring a crane truck through a wrecker service, but that could be VERY expensive.

Can you post pictures?
