Yes, taking the plywood top off the box in order to improve ventilation and allow rain and snow to shed better.

Right? Ours was a one-off opportunity posted on Facebook marketplace by the local store manager, I am doubtful if it’s a standard thing the company does. I wouldn’t be surprised if more often these old boxes go in the trash, sadly. They had varying levels of damage but nothing unfixable. We got this one for $300. We are not very handy but I think we can handle the types of renovations we will need to do for this.
