Cooked First Old Hen

I just had my first old hen processed a couple of days ago. She was a decent layer her first year, last to begin laying and first to quit last year and this. This year, she started laying Aug. 5th and has already quit for the season to molt. I got a total of about 14 eggs from her which doesn't begin to justify the feed and we are limited to only 3 hens, so I need good layers! I have to say it was kind of difficult to process her, and it does feel strange going out into the yard and she's not there. Part of the process of growing your own food, I guess...
