cooked lentals for chickens

Anyone feed their chickens beans like kidney beans or maybe black eyed peas? Just wondering if it would be good for them. Thanks.

I've read that cooked beans are fine, raw are not (other than "green beans", which are ok raw).

I would not give them large quantities, though. Don't crowd out their other nutrition sources.

I feed lentils & split peas daily as part of their scratch. These do not need to be cooked. No time to "cook" things for my birds.

I also add in uncooked lentils to my homemade "scratch".




My 3 year old daughter calls them "seeds" and loves to plant them in the run
