Cool chicken treat

Hi all,

It's so hot and I've found a nice and easy cold treat to give your chickens. My girls absolutely loved it and made a complete mess!

Get a tub of water with a couple of ice cubes to keep it cool. Add some frozen berries (3 quid from Tesco) and sliced up watermelon. That's it and it keeps them hydrated

Freeze it solid and they’ll peck at it till it’s gone , I froze veggies in a pie plate in water for my girls , they loved it

Great idea, especially with all this heat down south right now ( and we will only be getting worse in the next month) Thank you for a great idea to keep the chickens comfortable and hydrated!!

When I give my girls watermelon I use a apple corer and make a hole in the middle. I found that when I didn’t it would fill up with juice and make their faces a sticky mess, plus they couldn’t reach the flesh of the Mellon at the bottom.

I've got raspberries galore growing all over the place right now, as well as saskatoons. I'm going to pick some and give it a try. We're in for another heat wave this weekend.

I used to slice it up nice and pretty, now I cut it in half and they get one half and ducks get the other half. It's gone in like 10 minutes.

I gave my chickens a Saskatoon branch that a customer broke off they just walked around it , when I picked the berries off they went crazy for them.... a little spoiled ???
