I had to pick up something today way out in the country. When I got there, I was greeted by a Great Dane and a rather large mut. The owner called them because they were barking pretty aggressively. Then I noticed there were chickens under the front porch that came out once the dogs got quiet. The lady told me the chickens free range and the dogs stay with them all day. She said she has never lost a chicken to predators. She said that when the dogs bark, the chickens take cover. I don’t know how she trained the dogs but she said she got them both as puppies and introduced them to the flock and they have been protective ever since.
