I don't want to sound like a smarta$$ but it sounds like you just named two simple easy to build structures. 😁 General rule of thumb around these parts is 4sf of floor space per bird and 2 linear ft of roosting space. Beyond that, let your imagination run wild! Just make sure its easy to clean!

1 linear foot per bird of roosting space is generally considered adequate.
 
and add an A frame or shed shaped structure for my ladies to roost and lay.
Go with the shed.....Aframes are not really efficient for either chickens or their keepers.

I have 6 chickens and live in Northeast Ohio. Hubby suggested a metal shed and converting in as a roost but I though it would be too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. I would think a wooden shed style structure would be best-
