HI everyone, This is my first post here on the chicken forums, but I've been lurking for a long time. I'm the proud mama of 3 EE's, 2 Delawares (7 weeks old), and have 3 welsummers, and 2 speckled sussex on the way. They're my first chickens, and to say I'm hooked would be an understatement. The chickies are just about big enough to move outside, so my boyfriend and I have been working on the coop. He's an architect, and is big on using recycled things, so I'm proud to say that our coop is made from 100% scrap, and recycled wood. It was our one year dating anniversary yesterday, and we had a romantic day planned. We were going to go hiking to the same place we did on our first date, and have lunch, and such. However, the chickens need to go outside, and for that, I need a coop to put them in. I suggested we stay at his house, and finish the coop. It took some convincing for him to let me spend our anniversary working on the coop, but it's what I wanted to do, so we did. We worked all day, and almost finished. All that's left is windows. He sat down to take a break, so I went to sit with him. Big surprise, as we were sitting in the dirt next to our beautiful chicken house, he proposed to me! He had it planned out, our perfect date, and I wanted to stay and finish the coop, so he improvised, and popped the question right there! Of course I said yes, and it was the most perfect proposal ever! Here are some pics of the chicken house. The run hasn't been built yet, that will come next, and I'll put pics up when it's done.

It looks great and congratulations on your engagement! What a great story to tell everyone, how his perfect proposing date turned out to be working on the coop, which was perfect for you!

that's a fantastic coop and anniversary story ... for some reason I was hoping to see a 'pic' of the two of you sitting there by the coop when he popped the question with the ring box - LOL.
