Ok .. I feel like its taking me forever to complete this project. ... Im almost done except for the door to the run and some fencing for the top of the run, and hardwood mulch for the floor.

I ended up getting 3 Araucana (Bantam i believe)hens from a guy whos breeding all Araucana's ... this breed of chicken wasnt even on my list of birds to get but oh well .. I enjoy them already! I think he said they were like 10 to 15 weeks old

getting it done!

What do ya think?

Thanks

I still have to add the coop door and ladder plus other finishing touches, .. I guess I do still have a bit of work to do. ... It is tall, .. I hope its not too tall but I wanted them to be safe and dry .. I also have plans to make my garden area part of thier run and eventually I will make the nest boxes stick out the back so they have more room and another roost pole will go up.

thanks and Merry Christamas to all

It looks great!! My only comment is, did you want it to be that tall? will that make collecting eggs and cleaning it out too difficult for you?

I don't think it looks too tall. Even my fat old standard hens can jump fairly high, and if you have banties, there really shouldn't be a problem.
Love the nest boxes!

Thanks everyone im glad I didnt build it too tall ... its built on a hillside so the side with the doors is 3ft 9 inches off the ground and the side without is close to 5 ft. .. My chickens are gonna have to live in the coop for a couple more days but it is coming along .. just need more daylight hours to be productive after work, eventually when im sure they will come back i hope to let them free-range around the property, 13 acres, no fence, there were chickens and roosters in the fields when I moved here years ago but they dissapeared

... there were too many Roosters back then anyways .. I always thought Roosters crowed at sunrise before then !
