Despite rain (and one freak ice storm) every blinkin weekend for 3 weeks our coop and run is (nearly) done
(minus nest boxes, but birds are only 7 weeks old). Coop is 6x10 with 2x6 brooder/ICU when needed (panels can be removed). Run is 8x 24. I have 11 birds now, 5 are meat and will be culled at 12 wks. 6 chicks coming in late June, so Im hoping to house 8-10 over winter.
Today we completed the brooder (more chicks coming in June) and a second roost/poop board. The HC was a B to work with but having a handy dandy cordless grinder made it so much better.
I still have to get nest boxes and install an electric fence. Run is like Fort Knox. (DH) even made a portal door/escape hatch for when chickens are out free ranging. (when Im home).
They seem to be happy birds, and we are very happy that (most) work is done. Brews were earned and well deserved.
I thank BYC and its members for all the advice, resources and expertise..could not have done it without all you fine ppl.
