My coop wasn't supposed to come for about 2.5 weeks but now it's coming early next week so I have 1 week to hurry up and make the foundation perimeter thing and build the run! I'm excited that my chickies will go out sooner because they will be 8 weeks old next week but I'm not excited about being rushed to build a run. So a couple of questions:
1. Will the chickies be ok with no run for a couple of weeks? Their unobstructed floor space in coop is 75 square feet and I have 6 brahmas
2. How does one build an enclosed run tall enough for a person with a door?

Silly me, I bought an expensive coop "with run" thinking they didn't need additional space but I'm new at chicken ownership and I'm trying not to beat myself up over it and just suck it up and build what they need.

3. I have space behind coop to make a run up to 12ftx9ft... with that area plus the 75 in the coop, 4 nest boxes and 2 roost bars that are each 8 feet....how many more brahmas can I fit in there? chicken math is real and I also want some buff brahmas.

4. Or maybe I'd try a regular sized breed. How many regular sized hens can I fit in my space along with my original 6 brahmas?

How big is the coop? What kind?
Here's a pic but I put all the dimensions above

Beautiful coop! The general calculations are: 5-6 sqft/ bird in the coop(generally it is 4 but brahmas are big), 1 foot of roost space/ bird and 12-14 sqft/bird in the run(generally it is 10 but again Brahmas are big). You could have 12-15 chickens based on 75 sqft of coop space, 16 birds based on 16 ft of roost space, but only 7-9 birds based on run space.
If you add regular breeds, you could fit maybe one or two more than if you had Brahmas, but that also depends upon the personality of your birds. I have 8 feet of roost space for 7 hens. Usually it is divided up so 6 of them are crammed into 4 feet of the roost and one hen takes the remaining 4 feet for herself🙄

I thought since the coop has a little 75 square foot run I just add that to the 108 square feet of extra run I will build for a total of 183 square feet and leave it open 24/7 for them to move freely as they wish but it seems that even though I have 16 feet of roost space I can't fit 16 chickens in there :( why do coop manufactures do ridiculous things like that?! I'll never know.

Extra roost space is not a problem. The chickens seem to enjoy having more options, and in hot weather it is really nice if they can spread out to stay cool better.

If it is bigger than the current brooder, it is an improvement!

Honestly, I would not consider a run "necessary" at all with that amount of space, that many chickens, and the style of coop you showed.

More space is always nice, and of course it would be good to add more run space as soon as you can, but the chickens should be fine until you do.
