Coop bedding

I use a deep layer of hemp bedding as well. It's more expensive, but I don't have to change it often, so I've found that it balances out. The hemp is more absorbent and composts easier than pine shavings. An added benefit is that it works as an insulator. I, like the others, recommend some type of poop board, or hammock. I use a poop hammock because of the layout of my roosting bars. They work great. I simply take out the hammock once a week and hose it off. That keeps 95% of the poop out of the coop. Good luck.

I love that hammock. Great idea. Our coop is much smaller so it wouldn’t work with current set up but definitely something to work towards!
I’ve been doing the deep layer inside the coop with a wooden floor. That’s my problem I guess. I didn’t realize it was supposed to be in dirt.
