We had to find a new home for our cockerel, Jasper. So we have 5 pullets in our coop now, we think they are White Leghorns about 5-7 weeks old. So we are thinking of getting more chickens in June, certainly these will be bigger by then. My question is, how many chickens do you think our coop can hold?
Here they are. You can tell who Jasper is.

Our coop.

how big is the coop? but its thrown around that 4sq ft per bird is a rule of thumb, but if thye're freeranging alot, you could stretch that

The unpainted wood under the coop isn't really part of it, the coop(white) is elevated. I THINK it is about 7 ft long and 4 ft wide. The run is 6 ft high and it's longer than the coop. They will be free ranging.

Honestly, I'd hold tight on where you are and wait and see how destructive these birds are;) And 4 will prob provide ya more eggs than ya need. ya can always add more

If they are Leghorns, I'm sure we will, we have five so that's a bit more. It will be several weeks before we decide to get some chicks, so we will see how they do!
