Coop Dimensions

I want to build a coop out of old wood for a breeding trio. How big should I make it so they are comfortable?

If they are average sized chickens they say to go 4 square feet per bird.

Will the trio have a run, or just a coop? If they will have a run then I agree with the last poster with 4 sq feet per bird. 3 ft by 4 ft would be fine in that case. However, if they will not have a run I would make it larger.
