So we finished the coop day before yesterday. I locked the birds up in it yesterday morning and left them in there until today. I went out and scooted them out the pop door and into the run this morning. Some needed a little push, but they all went out. We were gone this evening and thinking we should be home by dusk to see about getting them all back in before dark, but when I got home they'd already managed to get themselves up the ramp and back into the coop waiting to be locked in for the night!

Here I was worried I'd have to pick them up and shove 'em back through the pop door. Little smartie pants!

Anyway, I still have to paint it and fill the dirt back in around the edges and DH is going to add the nest boxes on the other side but they seem to be pretty happy in there. They were basking in the sun all day. I'm sure it felt good after being cooped up in the basement for 8 weeks!

Good deal! I'm surprised they could get up that steep ramp without any cleats on it. How old are they?

The first pic was taken before I had put safety skids on the ramp. Wasn't sure it would work cause the ramp is really steep, but they seem to go up and down it with no problem.

I'd have to count back but I think the comets are about 7 weeks and the leghorns about 8 weeks. They are going in and out today without issue. This is a newer pic. I still have to add some strips to the bottom of the ramp. I ran out cause I put them really close together, but they are navigating it just fine.
