I have a little coop that I bought used. It 5 by 4 with a 4 by 8 run. I have 6 chickens. I got an in ground eletric fence for my labs so now I have an 24 by 10 fenced in kennel that empty. I wanting to get 6 we to add to my flock. My run with have 240 square feet and can't figure out how much room for my coop. I know I want external nesting boxes for easy collecting (my 3 year old job) and a door for me for easy cleaning. I'm a single working mother with 2 kids so I need this to be as cheap as possible...we don't have any habit resold that sell the wood nor does my lumber yards have cull piles. I have tried calling construction company to see if I can pick Thur their trash they said no. I have access to free pallets bit don't really want to have to take the time and pull each board off. How big will by coop need to be? I would like it use the length of wood if I have to buy 2 by 4 or plywood. Roosting poles, nesting boxes and big door for easy cleaning.

Sounds like the run should be pretty good size. But you'll want at least 48-50 sq feet of coop for 12 chicks
