Hey! I am new to the chicken thing and have recently acquired 6 chicks! 4 pullets, 2 bantams.....so cute. I am realizing now that the coop I have is too small....(it is the clubhouse coop from My Pet Chicken....anyone have experience with this coop?) So, I am in the market for another affordable yet weather worthy option for 3-6 chickens. Anyone know someone trying to unload a coop or scrap lumber in central jersey or eastern pa?? any and all suggestions welcome!!

I have been keeping an eye on craigslist to see whats around...haven't seen anything yet, but checking every day! thanks!

remember to think outside the box, don't limit yourself with searches for used coops. A neighbor of mine scored a free standing shed off Craigslist that had been hit by a truck for $75. One wall had a caved in portion where it was hit but he cut out the damaged section and replaced it with a window, but it could have also just been repaired. I think it cost him another $75 to have a flatbed tow truck deliver it to his house. Turned it into a nice size chicken coop.

so remember to keep your options open when searching. think sheds, box trailers, kids playhouses , etc etc. With a little creativity you'd be surprised what can be turned into a coop.
