Coop insulation--Plastic Bags!!

I like the idea of packing peanuts. My husband just told me he can get an endless supply from work. I think maybe this is what I will use for my insulation if I can't get something with a better R value. In my state I have to make it super nice because if not it is animal cruelty..

The peanuts seem to do a better job than one would think. Not sure how you get a mouse problem in a sealed wall either?

I actually only used the ones I had more in an effort to get rid of them! So, I didn't pay anything, were I to purchase I'd probably go with rigid foam.

The only way I found to pour them in easily was to leave about 6" of the top interior sheathing off, fill the void and then add the final 6".

Because walls don't necessarily stay sealed with mice around.

I have worked in a large number of horse barns with variously insulated walls, and a large proportion developed mice-living-in-insulated-walls problems over time. All it takes is one tiny hole, which mice are happy to help manufacture or enlarge themselves. Extremely attentive carpentry helps, but is no guarantee.

And mice+styrofoam makes an INCREDIBLE mess, let me tell you
