Greetings!

I'm preparing for ducklings and I have a small yard with very limited areas where my coop can go. I did find the perfect spot though.....or so I thought....but then I realized it's about 3 feet away from the large green electric/transformer box(those 3'x3' square ones) we have in our yard (hate that thing!). I do have a wood lattice trellis with a vine covering it but it does emit an extremely low only audible if you're listening for it constant hum, and the ground about a foot out around the box is always warmer. I got to wondering if the sound or electromagnetic field (if thats even a thing, not sure how these boxes work exactly) could negatively affect the ducks? I know it's a weird question but just wondering if anybody had some experiences with fowl and these boxes or thoughts on this.

Thanks!

The electrical transformers do emit that hum because of the AC current, and 60 cycles. All transformers emit that, but the smaller ones, we cant hear. The warmer ground around the transformer is due to the energy, some that is radiated out.
Transformer also emit EMR. here is a diagram from a Science site.

You can see some is not good for living things, while others are. X-rays, we obviously try to keep to a minimum. Visible light, and Infra-red are obviously very necessary , and safe. Microwaves, are best kept to a minimum. Cell phone use is better with device further from body. Earphones, and speaker options I believe do achieve this to a degree.
We live in an ELECTRIFIED WORLD. so not everything can be avoided, but some can be minimized.
The transformers, with their emitting radiation is something I'm sure that developers/manufacturers do try to make safe. We can not do without them, unless revert to a life before electricity.
I do not see that as being sooooo detrimental to your ducks. I would also not put my children's swing set next to transformer. Ducks do not have a long lifespan compared to humans, to maybe develop health issues that long term exposure may have.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and WELCOME to BYC
