I posted this over in the coop building section, but haven't gotten any replies yet. Here is the inside of my coop. It's a work in progress. Do you have any suggestions for me?

It will house 6 hens and 3 ducks.

johari, could you catch me up on the group that will be using the coop?  chickens in the loft?

Nice work.  What's the square footage of the floor area?  Got a photo of the bird doors?

The coop is 6x9. I'll have 6 hens. Right now I have ten chicks, but I'm not sure if all of them are female. I'm only allowed to keep 6 (stupid city ordinance). They are barred rock, Rhode island red, gold laced Wyandotte, and black Jersey. Then I have three Pekin ducks. Not sure of the sex on those either.

I don't have a picture of the pop door, as I haven't built it yet. Lol. And yes, planning on having the chickens roost in the loft there.

My biggest concerns are where to put the ventilation and if I'll need more nest boxes.

Nice. Something I did in the duck house was have the section between the roof and top of the shelter very very open. Then I added a sliding drop ceiling made with plexiglass panels.

Let me see if I can find the photo's . . . .

This shows the top of the wall and the half inch metal hardware cloth covering every opening.

And I cannot find a photo of the drop ceiling I put in. I placed a couple of 2"x4"s three inches from the top of the wall, for the length of the house. Then I got three plexiglass panels. Their length is equal to the interior width of the house, their width is just over a third of the length of the house. They sit on the 2"x4"s and I can slide them open or close them, depending on the weather.

That sounds labor intensive. Lol. I put up everything in the pictures myself around the existing shed. My husband is away at school, so it helps me not miss him so much to be doing a project. But I really want to get done with this project to move onto the next one.
