Coop Question Please Help

ok everyone i have a question i am going to build another 8ft by 10 ft coop the first coop has 17 hens in it already but some are bantams the first coop has 30 - 35 feet worth of roosts space for the chickens they have a 16 by 16 run for when we are not home but when we are home which is mainly everyday since i am a stay at home mom except for when i have to go to the store they have access to 4 acres of land how many can i exactly fit in this coop size because i have 12 more chicks that will soon need a coop and we are at least 4 more weeks away from building a new one and also i would like for the new coop to be just bantams mainly silkies so if i only have bantams in the new coop which will also be 8 by 10 how many will i be able to fit in it

4 sq. ft. in a coop. and 10 sq. ft. in the run for minimums. They will be happier with the room

sounds like you are looking to place the new grown chicks in with the old ones in the existing coop while you build a new one. i personally don't think it will be an issue. it's only temporary and the weather is getting nicer. plus like you said, they have tons of room to roam during the day. just my opinion though! and i should mention i don't have any chickens yet...
