Coop question

Hi,

I am trying to finish up my coop as my chicks are a almost 7 weeks old and need to go outside. I have not built the nest box yet, is it okay to put them in without the nest box? If so, how long do I have before it is absolutely needed?

They won't need nest boxes until the point of lay which is about 5 months old. I would make sure they are available with your fake eggs or golf balls in them by 4 1/2 months though if it were me.

Make sure the roosts are higher than the nest boxes or they will poo in them and sleep there. You can keep them blocked off until they need them (recommended).
