I have looked around here and am still not sure if our cornishx's are in need of a perch. I have heard they will not move much, but I was not sure when they are younger if that is something they like to do? Also, what is the mortality rate? We are only planning on 10 to start. we are not sure how it is going to go so wanted to start out small. We are ordering in a couple of weeks, so want to be prepared.

the do not perch they are so fat when they would jump off they would break there legs :|

That is what I thought, but wanted them to be happy. Hey is the square footage requirements the same for them as for our layers?

We were told by our ag teacher that broilers only need 2 sq ft per bird. We gave our's just a tad more and they did just fine. They don't move around as much as a regular chicken. As long as they have easy access to food and water they will sit in the same spot most of the time.
