COOP Questions from a newbee

#1 In the summer in Ohio do we close the door to the coop? (won't it be hot)
It is going to be inside a fenced area which brings me to my next questiion...

#2 What should we use to fence in the run area all sides and over the top?

#3 What should I use in the nesting boxes? (is straw bad?)

#4 A Wood floor what do I put on the bottom? Pine shavings OK? Did I read something about putting food on the floor? Why?

Thanks! I guess that means I shut the door at night.

I have 2 dogs in the yard will they keep the critters away from my chicks? Although I do bring them in the house at night.
