My Coop
My Coop
I had planned to create my own coop page, but I can never seem to find the time. So here it is. This probably should be called the BYC Coop as it includes so many ideas from this site.

The coop is 6'x6'x6' inside height. The run is 16x16. I started it in September of last year and finished it in June, single handed, with a full time job! I had never before built a structure of any type, but I am a handy woodworker. My biggest mistake was the length of the corner posts. I ran them all the way up so they could be part of the framework. I would have been better off to have stopped them at the floor and then use standard 2x4 wall construction. Oh well. Thanks to you all who have assisted me.

Thank you. You should be able to see the corrugated roofing on each side of the run, adjacent to the coop. This will help to keep it from being so muddy around the doorway, and as you say, create additional shade. They can get under the coop for all day shade.

I would have added more of the roofing, but the spending just had to stop! I was out of control!
