So we built our coop last winter its 8x8 with a run thats 18x18 now ive done the math and an 8x8 coop holds 16 chickens but last year we had like 27 in there no problem with plenty of roosting space but then some friends built a coop so we just gave them half so they didnt have to spend the money on new chickens that i got mostly given to me how many chickens do u think i could have in my coop and run?

Normaly it is 4 sq feet per bird in a coop. and 10 per bird in a run. I would say 15-16 birds max. But if you are sure they are happy... as many as can fit. The more you cram into an area there is usually more feed, fighting, disease, and just over all unhappy birds. That is usualy, not always! It really depends on the birds and the way you keep them.

Good Luck and God Bless!

Yea they were all happy i had to make a lower roost because one of my cochins i noticed was sleeping on the floor so i went in there one night and noticed it wanted on a roost but just couldnt get up there so that night i just put it on a roost then the next day made lower one and i have a big feeding trough feed that someone gave me that i love it holds about 40 pounds of feed and is about 5.5 feet long so everyone has plenty of room to eat and they seem happy and content when i first put the new birds in there they killd 2 but after that i had no problems and at night everyone had a spot to roost so it was good
