Hey guys!

My fiancé and I are moving out to the boonies and changing up our chicken arrangement. We plan on free ranging our chickens over 5 Acres and want to get 50 Chickens, a major increase from our 6 lol, is there a coop you recommend for 50? or plans for building? we're so excited to be expanding our little backyard farm

A large shed or a small barn is more along the lines of something you'd be looking for, a 16 x 16, 10x20, something with atleast 200sq feet though you can can get a way a bit less if you live someplace temperate.
I do recommend a run that they can go in for when there's bad weather, vacations, sickness and increased predators.

Biggg

We have 59 (some are juveniles).
The shed coop is 8x20 split into 3, the stall coop is 10x10 divided in half, and the Open-air coop is 8x8 divided in half. The birds are divvied up in these 7 pens for breeding.
So, I think you need a barn. I want a barn.

I built hoop houses from 50" x 16' cattle panels that are 16' long and 14' wide. Walls are 4's high. I'm housing about 50 birds per house with roosts made from 2"x3" lumber. I used 14 mil tarps for the roof. Vents on the tops of the ends with a door in each end.The only major problem I'm having is keeping the Red roosters out of the Delaware hen house. One sheet of plywood in on hinges to open up where the roosts are for easy cleaning as needed.

Ours is 10x20. According to CW we could have 50 birds. Not going to happen. We split ours into two 10x10 because I don't let breeds mix. The most we've had has been 40 and I wasn't comfortable the way they seemed to be jammed up. I cut back to 32 just to give them better freedom of movement in the coop. These were heritage RIRs and Barred Rocks. On those nasty days when they won't go out more room inside keeps the bickering down. Use your own judgement and how they move and act confined in the space.

Where, in general, are you located?

Do you want one big flock?

Several smaller flocks with separate areas?

One big space that can be subdivided when you need to?

What is the general shape of the space you are going to have available?

Will you want to be rotating run space?

One thing I forgot to post is that we use a tarp that covers a same size area in a run so that they can spread out but stay safe during inclement weather. Open areas of the runs will have fish net coverings to protect from aerial predators.
