Okay, I know you are suppose to have like 4 sq. ft. per chicken, but I don't understand that concept of sq. ft. I never was any good at math.

Anyway, if I'm going to have 9 chickens (already have 3 grown and 6 about 3 1/2 wks) how big does the coop need to be?

Why do they need 4 sq ft each? Other places suggest 1 or 1.5 sq ft. Mine only sleep in the coop and spend daylight in the spacious pen.

I've never seen anything suggesting less then 4 sq. ft. per chicken. So, it looks like mine should have plenty of room if my coop is 6X6! Actually, if money allowed, I'd build it bigger, just because!

Hi we have 10 chicks , 5 Buff Orps and 5 Americanuas, and the coop size for them is 10 x 8 with plenty of room foir roosting poles and nesting boxes and the run oustide for them will be 10x 16 so they have plenty of room to roam and room for a few more chickens. You know you always want more!!!

I think if I got any more chickens, I myself would probably be forced to live in the coop with them, by my DH

My current coop is 4'3" X 4'3" with a 4X13 run. I will be adding on a 6x6 coop and and the run will be expanded to about 4X21. That should be plenty of room for my chickens, right?
