I'm redoing my entire area for my poultry. Everything. I had them all in a shed that I had converted into a coop, but it's a pain to clean. I never really had to worry about the size of the house before. Now I'm going to build a separate coop for the chickens and ducks. I have four ducks and eight chickens. They will only be in the houses at night. What would the minimum dimensions be for them?

So you will have 8 chickens in one coop, and the 4 ducks in another, correct?

You will need the chicken coop to have at least 32 square feet of floor space. The duck house should be at least 16 suare feet. There will be times when they spend a day or two inside if the weather is bad, so it will need to accomodate them during these times. Bigger is always better, so go with those minimums and bigger if your situation allows.

Will they have separate runs as well?

Same run, separate coops. Thank you for your input.
