This is the very last time i uninstalled and took the door apart attempting to fix the newest recommendations by the company. Over 2 years, the entire door was returned for repair, mother board replaced and other parts replaced. Never did it work properly for more than a few weeks or less without needing to be reprogrammed. I asked the company to replace the door but they only offered to reduce the cost of a new door. I refused to spend more time or $$ on this product. After throwing the door in the trash, i moved the bottom story door from another vendor up to replace the Coop Tender. Not one time ever has the other door malfunctioned! Never. I regent spending so much time and effort on the Coop Tender product!!

Sometimes when things come packed with toooooooo many features, things just go haywire. :idunno I looked up the site, and read their first review, and that review , it smells like a plant. Note... it is by an Anonymous, and is so extensive and glorifies product. I only snipped 1/4 of the message to show my point. Any one looking to read the whole message can find it on their site.

I have an automatic pop door, battery operated, basic model, and it has worked flawlessly for 3 years now. I don't want to post the name, because it would sound like a sales pitch. But,,,,, if you do want to know, witch it is??? I will post name as well as pix of it on my coop.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:

Thank you for the honest review.

FYI for anyone reading, never trust Amazon reviews. A huge number of them are fake. My personal Amazon account was used to post fake reviews. Amazon does not care and allows it.

I have stopped buying things from Amazon and encourage everyone to do the same. Shady business practices should not be tolerated.

I do read reviews,,,,,, but usually skip the 5 STAR, as well as the 1 STAR.
Reason as you stated above. The 5 s' can be FAKES. the are falsely promoting their item. The 1 s' can also be FAKES. Placed there by competitive sellers, or placed there by incompetent users.
The looooong Juuuuuuuicy, elaborate reviews,, I just think:old Pull my finger.

I'd like to know the name of the door you recommend 😊

I had the same issues...my door worked for a total of four months, from August to November. As soon as the temps dropped into the 20s, the motor failed to operate; their “-20F“ rating was false as far as my door was concerned. Customer Service involved leaving a message, then an email from Jim, the owner, would soon follow with “suggestions” (more like guesswork) on how to fix the door - the emails would always end with “Hope this helps”; it never did. Taking the door out and fixing it ourselves via the “suggestions” never worked and got old quick - not at all fun trying to fix this door when it’s freezing cold and damp outside. I recycled the electronic portion and used the rest of the door for kindling. I’m just glad my girls were never trapped inside. I honestly don’t know how this company is still in business. A couple of years ago there were a lot more negative reviews for this product. I faithfully posted my negative reviews on Amazon (yes, I had to do this several times), but Cooptender is smart and was somehow able to get rid of the negative reviews.

I know this is an old thread but this popped up first in my search and I needed to respond.

My experience over the past 10 months is similar. I should have researched more before purchase. I expected at the price point that it would not have malfunctioned as many times as it has. I've spent 5 months returning parts, waiting for them to arrive, fixing, troubleshooting, emailing back and forth and responses take a day or two. Come home after dark and my door is open, or not open in the morning, etc etc. Awful troublesome worry and headaches.

I asked for a refund and the owner refuses. He said the door is not eligible and continues to offer warranty repair and replacement. This door's unreliability will cost me my flock if I keep using it. I have raccoons and bobcats in the area. I ripped it out and got a different door. I offered to pay shipping and send back for a refund, heck, even refund half for the time it did work for nearly half the 1 year warranty period.

I found a lawyer that is interested in helping me, so I am here gathering more information and to also share my experience with this door and company.
