Hello...can any one suggest any desings or pictures for coop geared for the south florida area. I have seen alot of pictures but they are all for the parts of the country that do experience a winter season.

Thank you all for your time.

from West Palm Beach! Where in South Florida are you?

You don't have to plan for warmth here, but you do need to consider protection from predators at night, especially raccoons. You also want to plan for good drainage, so your coop doesn't turn into a swamp during the rainy seasons. And good coverage for your feeders so they don't get wet during rainstorms. There should be good ventilation in the coop so the birds don't get too hot while inside. And most of all, you need to plan for H-words (I don't even want to say it out loud). Plan a way to either keep the chickens inside safely during the storm, or at least make the coop strong enough so it will survive the storm in order for your chickens to return to their home afterwards.

Hello from Homestead’s Redlands:welcome, I have to say Sunny Side Up has it right. Good drainage , lots of shade and strong enough to survive an H-storm. Hope we don’t have any this year.
