We have a small backyard in the city of Dallas, TX. I have 6 layers that are roughly 2 months old. I want to try and raise some meat chickens. My husband agreed to 5 and no more...maybe. We have friends in the country who raise Cornish Cross to sell. They are raised in tractors moved everyday and fed organic feed. My husband has suggested that we propose them with an offer to buy a larger order of either Red Rangers or Freedom Rangers and ask if they will raise them in one of their tractors with their Cornish crosses. We will keep a few they get to keep the rest. We will help out with some of the feed as well since RR take an extra two weeks. They are nice people and good friends they may accept this offer. I am just wondering if anyone has ever raised these two together in a tractor before and what were your results? Is the same feed ok for both? What is the difference between a Freedom Ranger and a Red Ranger? We are also raising fodder for our hens now and hopefully future rabbits. We will raise fodder for the meat chickens as well. Has anyone fed their meat chickens fodder? I am sure these are questions that they will ask me. TIA

Welcome to Backyard Chickens!:frow Glad you joined the flock! BYC is a very helpful and informative site! You shouldn't have any problem crossing them. Hope you enjoy BYC as much as we do!
