My plan is to have 9 heavy breed dual purpose hens with avg egg laying abilites. Such as white rocks, dorking, delaware and new hamshire. My thought is to have a dark cornish rooster fertilizing the flock in order to further enhance meat charasteristics of there offspring. However I am afraid there offspring will pick up the poor egg laying charcteristics of the dark cornish breed. I will eventually have to replace the 9 egg laying hens so this is a concern of mine. Anyone have ideas on this?
