I am considering taking advantage of the sale Meyer is having on Cornish X. They are also having a surplus broad breasted turkey sale. My question is, since these are both going to be for the same purpose, can they be housed together and fed out together? I know the turkeys need a high protein food but can it be the same feed? Or is the 28 protein turkey feed too high for the Cornish X?

Thank you for you help!

28% is too high for a broiler, 22% is about right. The turkeys would probably crush the broilers.

HMMM, I hadn't thought of squishing. Figured by the time they were big enough to do that they would be out in the pen where they wouldnt sit on one another! I guess I need to think of how to house them seperately. Better call my dad to start building....hubby is out of town!

Thank you!

actually, my friends that show feed their broilers turkey chow. of course if you do that, you'll have HUGE chickens by 8 wks. the reason i wouldn't put the chickens with the turkeys is because chickens can give turkeys something called black head or something like that. the cornish being babies probably wouldn't but alot of people don't house chickens and turkeys together because of that.
