I know Cornish crosses are usually made froma Cornish rooster and White Rock hen. are there any other crosses that are from the Plymouth Rock breed that I can come up with? for example I have red lace Cornish roosters. I would like to cross them with possibly Rhode Island Reds. would this work does anyone know?

It is quite impossible to make yhe same meat birds that hatcheries offer, their birds are a not just a result of breeding a cornish rooster to a white rock hen... It's much more complicated than that... They are the results of spending tonnes of momey on carefully selecting many lineages and several generations of breeding to get to the point of producing the standard hatchery cornish cross meaties....
BUT, this doesn't mean that also crossing a cornish rooster to a white rock or any Plymouth rock hen in your backyard won't produce a great meat bird! Although not AS fast growing as the hatchery Cx, or get AS big, they wil be a very good meat bird that will grow fast and big enough to be considered a good meaty! And on the bright side they will not suffer during their life from leg or health problems like the hatchery Cx! And I guarantee they will be tastier!
So yes crossing your cornish to your RIR or to any plymouth rock or any other similar everyday heavy breed will give you a good meaty for home consumption!
