We are new at raising chickens, and we have 10 cornish x. We started them on Co-op's starter/grower, and this past week changed them to the layer crumbles, because they didnt have a finisher. Does anyone know how long they have to be off the starter/grower before you can butcher them. Or does anyone have any advise on how to finish Cornish x's because they grow so different than the other chickens. They are about 7wks old. Any feeding advice would be great. Thanks

I finish them with the last of the grower crumbles.

As long as your grower only contains Amprolium, you can butcher them right off the starter/grower feed.

The active ingredent on the tag has Amprolium and Bacitracin Methylene Disalicylate. So does this one need to be a certain time frame before eating??

Seems to depend on the concentration it was in your feed. It can be from 0 to 5 days. At 5 ppm in the feed the following was found in a study of broiler chickens.

Based upon the established no withdrawal times for monensin and bacitracin methylene disalicylate, no residues were above tolerances in any tissues from these broiler chickens. The data support no withdrawal for the bacitracin methylene disalicylate/monensin combination.

I feed only unmedicated feeds and add milk powder if needed, either due to wet damp weather or if I see symptoms, just so I don't have to worry on residues or resistance.

Anyway your layer for a week should have this handled.
