our CornishX are ready to be processed and we want to start advertising but, since this is out first go around with chickens, we were wondering if we could get what you all thought would be a fair price to sell them at? do we go by the pound? They are very BIG birds. We are not processing them just selling them live. any feed back would be great. THANKS

I am curious, who is it that is going to buy a cornish live without processing? I don't think your average non-chicken person is going to want to processes or even handle the chicken on there own.

My thought is that you will have to have them processed to sell them.

If your not going to process them your not going to get much out of them... maybe 5-6 bucks a bird.

Where at in Ohio? I'm in Akron and get $10 for a 3.5-4 lb bird.

Jaku.... you process for free? I have 200 ready in 4 weeks... what time you open?? LOL....

Haha, I was waiting for that one! To clarify, I sell my birds live- as in, if someone chooses, they can come pick it up before processing. I have a box on my order form that people check if they want it processed. The reason is that there are no laws against selling live chickens, nor are there regulations on processing birds for free. BUT, to do it that way, you have to actually mean it. I don't sell a single bird after it's processed- preorders only, and my birds are always picked up fresh, not frozen.

Do you actually make any profit selling for $10 per bird? I don't plan on selling my birds but was curious if there was profit.

Same out here, if we sell them live, we can offer a free processing as a favor, but we can't offer cut meat for sale. We do a grassfed cow buy that way each year. (I have a freezer big enough to hide bodies).
