Cotournix and button quails?

I have currently 2 button quail roos, healthy and active. But I want to get cortournix quails for production purposes as well! I have a 2mx80cm enclosure in my living room with two layers. The buttons and my last living guinea pig (she's very old and were making sure to interact with her as much as possible!) are currently in the bottom part of the enclosure, currently using the top part for storage.

So I'm thinking of using that top part for cotournix quails! A small flock, and with added platforms for extra space and enrichment. So, when one of my buttons inevitably passes away, and my guinea pig as well, we would add a connection between the two layers of the enclosure and expand to the bottom layer as well. So the question is... would a single button quail roo be comfortable with cotournix quails? Or even the both of them?

I also plan on making a flight pen for the quails out in the garden btw, just using this huge enclosure here to its full potential indoors for the winter :)

Edit: added a photo of the enclosure!

I agree, the buttons are actually really nasty to other species if they didn’t hatch together and grow up together, they will kill a cot chick twice their size with ease, I had this happen when I set a couple cot chicks in with buttons for a few minutes while I moved a cage, the buttons killed one and injured the other in like 4 seconds, no exaggeration. But as the cots grow, the buttons will still try to run them off, but the cots will fight back, and kill the buttons. If one of the cots tries to mate the buttons, it can easily kill it too.

As far as living room quail. I’ve kept a bin cage in the living room with my blind quail, and they make a lot of dust. The cage you have will let all the dust escape around your living room, and the birds will kick and flap and send bedding everywhere.

Hi! I've kept two buttons with two coturnix successfully together. But, from what I understand it has probably only worked because they were hatched together and have literally never spent a day apart in their lives. It might also make a difference that my buttons are both male and my coturnix are both female. I'm not sure that I would try it again in the future. It's possible that I just got lucky.

oh WOW, in that case i will probably just euthanize whoever ends up being left since rehoming roos is a nightmare here (theres like 40 ads for button roos looking for a new home in my area) and last time my older roo was alone he was just calling all night and day.

oh ive been keeping my two in my living room since 2020! i dont have much issue with it, Having kept a big group of guinea pigs in that cage that would regularly send bedding flying out i am very used to cleaning up regularly. Might hang up curtains around the cage for the night since our buttons get spooked by the lights of cars that drive by at night and i assume it wont be much different with cots, otherwise dusty little critters are no issue for us :)

I wouldn’t attempt it if you can avoid it. Lots of opportunities for things to go wrong and birds to get injured/killed.

Wait what? Your buttons killed your coturnix chicks? That doesn't make much sense could you explain that better?
