It's nice you are so helpful to those who want to learn about quail and purchased your eggs. Sorry if that was a dumb question.

My 2 week olds in the brooder were "dust bathing" in their aspen bedding today. It was flying everywhere!
 
Personally I use sand as well. It's pretty much inert, and falls through the wire. They will dust bathe in pretty much anything, wood shavings, pot ash, dirt, ground glass, depleted uranium and even their feed.

I would stick with sand/dirt/potash on wire, all 3+wood shavings on solid floor pens. I would avoid GG,DU and bird feed for obvious reasons

There are a bunch of jokers on this board Jackson! But they grow on you.

Other additions to the sand can be 7 dust, and DE, for pest control...If needed, but please check dosing instructions, because 7 dust is a pesticide, and to much DE is just to much dust if overdosed for quail.

I would stick with sand, but that's just me.
