coturnix with bumblefoot

I just started noticing blood around my cage... didn't see any pecking going on.. realized it was coming from the bottom of a couple of the female's feet. Did a little research online.. and determined that they had bumblefoot. I have 1/2" wire mesh bottom for the floor of my cage (so that their droppings can fall through). I looked at the bottom of all 7 of my quail's feet.. and noticed one or two other had growths forming as well.. I have had these quail for about 3 months now.. and this just started happening.. Any advice as to what I should do? Change the floor to somthing else? (if so.. what?) and should I try treating them? Thanks

Is the floor wire plastic coated? I've read this is easier on their feet.

place a layer of 1/4 inch hardware cloth over the 1/2 inch wire floor=== this will support their feet better.
