could i put a water heater device in a plastic waterer

first the device I would be using is the MARSHALLTOWN The Premier Line 742G Bucket Water Heater (i found it on amazon). would it work if I put it in a plastic waterer. I'm thinking it is designed for medal, but you never know. I want it in a plastic waterer because they can hold much more water. I need more water for winter because of my increased waterfowl population (I have more than quadrupled my original number of 3, because I added 13 more birds).

How cold is it in Winter. I wouldn't want the plastic to melt!

I would buy something already set up for poultry, or get one of those heated dog bowls.

Alternatively, if you like galvanized, they sell a heated galvanized base designed for galvanized waterers in some stores.

I already have a heated dog bowl, but those ducks destroy it in a minute. That wasn't a problem last year because I had 3 ducks. Now I have 16 total waterfowl. I would need something like that link you suggested on McMurray Hatchery and I was also probably going to get a heated bucket because my older ducks have used that before.

LOL I have never had ducks- they sound like high maintenance cuties!

It's just that they can't tell the difference between water to drink and water to play in. When my birds are outside all day and they are about 150 yards away in my barn. what makes it worse is that my barn's electricity is bad and I can 't use it that much. Therefore, I have 2 heated dog waters, 1 which I have to keep out of the ducks' range so my cats and chickens can enjoy clean water. It isn't that bad if you have either 1) not many ducks/geese/other waterfowl or 2)you have electricity and/or water in your coop/barn. It should be good if I get a heated bucket (which would be too high for the ducks to jump in or mess up that badly) and a heated 3 gallon plastic water (that would hopefully be just for drinking). Ducks are generally more work than chickens except for me, because every chicken I have perches outside the coop and I have to move all of them.
