Hello everyone :D

I have a flock of about 40 chickens.. I got them from Murray McMurray hatchery. They are all healthy and doing great, but I do have a unique situation with one of my chickens. From about 2 weeks of age, I noticed that one of my Black Australorp chicks was REALLY tiny and seemed to be more quiet than the rest of my chicks...

They are about 3 and 1/2 months old now and just about fully grown, except for my one little precious chicken. She is less than half the size of my other Australorps, very tiny and she has a funny gait when she walks. If you know what a gaited horse looks like (such as a Paso Fino) when they are walking it looks a lot like that... Instead of a nice normal stride, she has a very short stride and even though her little legs are going kind of fast, she doesn't move very fast.. lol.. I am leaning towards it being something genetic, but other than that.. she seems totally healthy and normal except she's still a bit more quiet than the rest.

Her feathers are beautiful, she eats and drinks and even hops up on her perch at night to sleep... she's just TINY, a bit more quiet personality wise and walks kind of funny... Her name is Itsy Bitsy and she has developed a special spot in my heart...

I was just curious if anyone else has experienced something like this and if so what it was?

well I'm taking a guess that just as there are tiny little people maybe its in her genetics to be a tiny little chicken. she sounds normal in every other way just tiny. likely its something genetic passed down in her jeans making her that way? I wonder if she will lay tiny eggs too? that will be interesting to see? so I'm guessing its her genetic disposition to be tiny. wonder if her parents were tiny also? hope this helps. as long as she's healthy I wouldn't worry. she's just special. :)

Itsy Bitsy is 8 months old now and is still special :) But, she doesn't lay eggs and her comb and waddles are still very small. Her walk is very quick in action, but slow in how fast she travels. Here are a few pictures of her and her feet and ankles. They look a bit deformed to me. Anyone else seen this before?
