We are rather new to chickens, we have 9 Chickens, 4 ducks, from a hand full of different places. All look healthy!
I had what I thought was the stomach flu, no fever for over a week. Someone suggested it might be e-coli from the birds. I am strict about hand washing and such, and make sure the kids are too. I didn't take the concern from the person who suggested it seriously.
Then I got a UTI, I have not gotten one since I was a teen. Nurse calls me today to say the culture shows E-coli.... so then I think of the chickens. It isn't likely right? Most UTIs are from e-coli and most people don't have chickens! No need to jump to that conclusion right?
I let the nurse know we have chickens and asked if I should get my healthy kids tested just in case. I am over reacting right? Hopefully now the Dr will not over react as well when she gets back to me about it?
