could my chicks make me sick?

hello, and grand rising, 2 days ago i started having a bad sore throat, i try to wash my hands after every time handling the chicks but im just wondering if they can make me sick? ive got some kind of pus bumps. Before we got the chicks, about 3 weeks ago i also had a sore throat and its odd to have one as i just did have one not that long ago. So i was wondering if its possible to get some kind of sickness since they are in my house. I woke up today with a very swollen shut throat, luckily motrin took it down.

It doesn't sound like something you would get from a chicken. Unless you have some kind of allergy to their dander.

I've read it's possible to get e coli or salmonella from not washing hands or some people were kissing their chickens and got it that way.
I don't think either of those would cause a sore throat. Of course I'm not a doctor FWIW.

Chickens do carry staph bacteria on their skin, but as far as I know baby chicks don't unless they've been exposed to the outdoors.

Never gotten sick with anything from baby chicks, & I've forgotten to wash my hands on occasion. Same with adult birds.
