Could my Muscovy have laid at 3 months old?

I got an egg this morning, right next to their wading pool. It's possible it could have been one of my chickens that were free ranging last night but I have never seen them lay anywhere but in their nest box and this was just on bare ground sitting against their little plastic pool where the ducks usually hang out. The egg seems rounder than my chicken eggs, maybe a little bigger but not much . Is it possible they are laying already? Or is it wishful thinking and its definitely a chicken egg. I know duck eggs can be more waxy but unfortunately I didnt notice this egg until it got completely soaked from the hose when I was going to dump the pool. Sorry no digital camera currently so I cant post a pic. It's kind of an offwhite color with maybe a little rose tinge to it..

I've seen conflicting info that my duck will start laying at 4 months and then some that they won't lay until next spring... I certainly wasnt expecting eggs now but would happily take them!

There is a big difference between the shell of a duck egg and a chicken egg. If it were a duck egg it would be much harder to crack open, you will be able to tell. Give it a try.

Even a first egg of a duck? So what should be normal for a muscovy? At 4 months? Or not til next year?
