I've been steadily getting two brown eggs from my RIRs since just after Christmas. I just recently starting getting eggs from my Red Stars. I've got two Easter Eggers that are due to start laying any time as well. I got an egg today that is very light. Is it possible that one of my Easter Eggers laid this? It's almost as big as my RIRs eggs.

I'm posting pics below of today's eggs. The light one, one RIR egg and the two Red Star eggs (they're quite a bit smaller). For the last few days I haven't been getting two eggs from the RIRs, so that's why the confusion. If it is one of theirs, what would suddenly make it so light? And if it's not, how common is it for a young hen to lay a nearly full size egg for the first time?

Thanks for the help!

Well, I was just reading another thread about an egg laid within an egg...each egg was a different color, so now I think maybe it was my RIR. I've gotten light colors before, just never so light. Guess I won't know for sure until they're all laying.

My RIR took forever to start laying and she often lays eggs that have a pinkish tint to them. I wouldn't call them "pink" eggs but when compared to my Redstar eggs, they definitely have a pink shade.

I hatched out a pink egg just like that. It is still a half easter egger but I am fairly certain that your egg is a rhode island egg. My easter eggers eggs didn't come close to a full sized egg when they started laying. I know it is my opinion but I say the Rhode Island Red laid it.
