Could this mean they are hens?

A few weeks ago, we got two silkies from a local person here. Last weekend, we got 4 Isa Brown chicks. All the chicks are in the same brooder, and after a tiny bit of pecking, they all got along fine.

But the other day, my mom went to check on the chicks, and one of the younger ones was missing. Ended up the one of the silkies was sitting on it, keeping her warm like a mother hen. Over the next few days, both of the silkies have been doing this, quite often. So I was wondering if this could mean that both the silkies are hens? It seems like it would be odd behavior from a rooster, I would think

So, what do you more chicken-savvy people think?

ive actually got chicks who are a week older then the new batch in the same brooder and its not unusual to find the new little few day old chicks snuggled up under the wings of the older chicks who seemed more than happy to oblige

its sooo cute.

For the longest time I thought my month old production red was a hen because at night I would find the three 4 day old chicks under it's wings... Then his saddle feathers and hackle feathers grew in and he started crowing... LOL
