country ham/ham bone

Is it ok to feed the flock country ham (wondered b/c it is salted) or the ham bone (it was sliced too).

no that would not
the bones may sliver off and how would they swallow that much bone
remembering the crop hole and the gizzard hole is very small and slivers of bone will poke holes in them and cause body fluids to seep in

also the salt should be boiled in water with dry beans to get the salt out of the ham
I don't feel it is good chicken feed

That's what I thought. I just thought I would ask since DH was insistent it was OK. (the kids left some country ham on their plates last night after chewing on it) I felt like the bone probably wasn't a safe choice.
