Does anyone know about the Ameracunas from Country Hatchery? I figured they are probably crossed with something but I want colored eggs and the docilness of the breed. Thanks for any information you can share!!!!

They aren't ameraucana but rather Easter eggers. Typically it is a blue or green egg gene rooster over a good producing brown egg hen. More than likely, they should produce green eggs but you might also get a brown or blue egg.

EEs are some of the more interesting hens as no two are alike and mine have been good layers.

Thanks! I figured they were EEs, I had some Ameracunas lined up from a breeder in Texas but my Hubby said I wasn't going to spend that much on chicks to get started out this time. I want colored layers becuase the eggs seem to sell better and I can eventually, slowly change my stock over to Ameracunas and Marans.

My ameraucana aren't as good of layers as the EEs and take more time off when they molt too. If you need producers definitely go with the EE. They do have great prices on their hens. They're about $1 cheaper than other hatcheries. Hopefully they are strong healthy chicks.

We have purchased from them before and so has our neighbors. They are about a hour away so I don't have to pay shipping. They were really good chicks I think out of 150 we only lost about 10.
