I ordered chick feed and layer feed from Countryside Natural because I wanted a good quality organic food & I live in a small town with NO organic options whatsoever.

The older girls LOVE their new layer feed, but the chicks will not touch their feed once I mixed a little Countryside into their Dumor. I dumped it out and put just straight Dumor back into the feeder and they resumed eating normally. Any suggestions?

Countryside is a fish-based feed, instead of soy-based. Could that be the problem? Should I try offering it in a seperate feeder by itself and see if they eventually grow to like it?

I would try and make the change gradually, by mixing the feeds.
If they seem uninterested in it, maybe you can mix some water into the feed. Or you can try and take the food away from them and you can feed them multiple times a day. Maybe that way they won't have time to say "eeeeewww... I don't like it!" Play around with it. I'm sure it is just new to them

My little ones were raised on Countryside Natural. It might take a bit for yours to get used to it if you've been feeding something else. I would definitely mix it together with what they were eating. If the CN seems bigger than your previous crumble, you could put a little in the blender and grind it finer for a few days until they take to it.

Thanks for the advice!
I think I did mix the first batch a little too strong...I mixed 1/4 Countryside & 3/4 Dumor. Tonight I mixed it as only 1/8 Countryside and there were no objections. Yay!

LOL
I thought the older girls would be the problem-children, they are picky! But I gave them a separate container with their CS layer feed straight and you would think they hadn't had anything to eat for 2 weeks

They made pigs of themselves.
